ParticipantI think I remember someone telling me that she had her pedals bent in (from the bolt/rivet where they fold up for transport) to bring them closer to the centre.

ParticipantDid you order the heavy gauge? If not, you clearly need to try that in the 2nd octave…

ParticipantI have the Pozolli and Dizi.

ParticipantColoured markers above and below where you pluck the strings should be enough for you to know where you are.

ParticipantThe Heather came strung in gut, and string material makes a significant difference to the sound and feel of a harp but is something you don’t mention.

ParticipantAccording to the regulations I think you need 46+, however the AB are quite sensible if you apply for a dispensation to the syllabus for any reason – they don’t really want to put anyone off by demanding thousands more are spent on an already expensive instrument.

ParticipantDo they sound fine?

ParticipantBetween those it really depends on if you want to strap the harp on and prance around or have it on a stand.

ParticipantTo play a 1 octave scale:
Place 4321 putting them on the strings at once (or 14 23 or 23 14 but NOT 1 or 4 by itself first). Play 4, 3, 2 turn 4 under keeping all fingers low and wrist mostly still and place. Play 1, place 321 at once, play 4,3,2 place 234 at once. Play 1, 2, 3. Place thumb over. Play 4. Place 234 and play to end.Tacye
ParticipantHow short is your daughter?

ParticipantDo you have a micrometer to measure the strings?
Tacye
ParticipantRelax- the joy of ‘playing along’ is you get to leave out all the tricky notes.
Tacye
ParticipantAs William says, if they are not too far off the right position you can pull the pins out of the neck slightly to decrease the amount of sharpening.
Tacye
ParticipantThat makes more sense.
