The perfect practice environment
Assignment: Create a distraction-free, ergonomic practice space
Before you even sit at your harp today, take 15 minutes to optimize your practice space. Position your bench at the right height, make sure you have adequate lighting for your music and strings, and gather all your toolsโmetronome, tuner, pencil, water bottle, music standโwithin armโs reach. Remove your phone and any other distractions from the room. Organizing your practice space sends a signal to your brain that โthis is where serious practice happens,โ which will help you focus more quickly every time you sit down to practice throughout the challenge and beyond.

Making Space, by Lynne Abbey-Lee
You spend countless hours in your harp roomโpracticing, teaching, filing, arranging. Some spaces are large and spacious, others are tight and cozy. Find out how to make the most out of your space in this feature article from Harp Column magazine’s September-October 2011 issue.
