Creating a pre-performance ritual
Assignment: Design your perfect pre-performance routine and practice it today.
Design your ideal performance day routine and practice it today as if youโre performing tonight. Decide: When will you warm up? What will you play as a warmup? Will you play through your entire program, or just check a few spots? How will you manage your mind? (Visualization, breathing exercises, positive self-talk.) What about logistics? (Check that your music is organized, your harp is tuned, your performance clothes are ready.) What will you eat, and when? Thinking about and practicing your plan in advance will remove decision-making stress on performance day. Practice your routine today so it becomes automatic.
