Hi there,
I have the adjustrite chair, and I really like it. I too have suffered from the axe in the shoulder syndrom, and having some back support has really helped. I find I don’t need to use it all the time, but when I do it is great. And I love that it has so many heights, so you can really tailor it to your needs, and it is very easy to transport to gigs. Hope you feel better soon!ellen-beckermanParticipantYes, I have one. My harp room is on the second floor of my house, so like you I always have to navigate stairs (but I only have 18!) I can get it up and down the stairs by myself, and love how the wheels make it easy to lower the harp down to the next lower step. Does it turn on a dime? No. But I’ve never had any problem negotiating corners or tight places… it’s always been fine. The one I have is made by Harp Caddy. It has a nice wide shelf for the harp that keeps everything very secure. Hope this helps.
ellen-beckermanParticipantGretchen, which app do you use for recording?
ellen-beckermanParticipanthooray! And thanks for the 10 things. I’ve been enjoying that!
ellen-beckermanParticipantI have a student who plays on the left shoulder. She came to me having already begun her study that way, and didn’t want to change. We haven’t gotten to lever changes yet, but if/when we do, I think she’ll do okay. One of her harps has the tuning pegs marked with blue and red on the “wrong” side, and she could find her way around. I’ve seen videos of people playing this way! to me, it’s all about making beautiful music, so if it works, it works.
ellen-beckermanParticipantWell, I don’t know the types of planes. It easily fits in the large planes I take when I go to England and Ireland. I’ve also flown with it on smaller planes across country, and once on a tiny puddle jumper, where it didn’t fit in the overhead, but it did fit under the seat in front of me. Good luck!
ellen-beckermanParticipantI have taken a Triplett Zephyr many times on airplanes. I worried a lot at first, as the dimensions didn’t quite match what they were requiring, but I have never had a problem. I did have problems with a Stoney End Eve, however, twice. I was forced to gate check it with the baggage. I was a wreck the whole flight, both times. The Eve is slightly larger than the Triplett. I don’t know how they compare to the harpsicle… I am guessing the harpsicle is larger than the Zephyr, but don’t know for sure. Hope this helps!
ellen-beckermanParticipantI just watched Asalann Fay’s youtube about this harp and it looks SUPER COOL! I wish I had known about this harp when I was looking. What a brilliant design. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aK2NsuY-EQk
ellen-beckermanParticipantHi there, I play pedal, but have a Dusty Allegro, and I have a Triplett Zephyr, both of which I love. I have no trouble switching back and forth between them. Within a couple of minutes, I adjust. My Allegro has a nice, resonant sound, and I love the legs, which make it much easier to play than using a lap bar. And the bag has a compartment for the legs, making everything nice and tidy. I take my Zephyr when I travel overseas. It is great, but of course the range is very limited, and the strings are quite close together, so it takes a little bit to adjust to, but again, not to long. Good luck on your quest!
ellen-beckermanParticipantI too have played for yoga classes, especially therapeutic yoga classes. I’ve played a collection of world flutes as well as the harp. I haven’t done it in a long time, but it was a joyful experience, and people always expressed such gratitude afterwards, and some even told me that I was part of the reason they came to the class. I miss it… maybe it’ll start up again! The woman who taught has gone on to focus mainly on trainings, so not to many classes anymore. Good luck… it is so fun and rewarding.
ellen-beckermanParticipantI just went to the app store, and searched for daily diary and a number of apps came up. I thought Daily Notes looked good, but it is $4.99. There was another one that was free, “my Wonderful Days Lite” but I didn’t like it quite as well. Anyway, just a thought to search for a daily dairy rather than a calendar app. that way you have the days listed and plenty of space to write things down. Good luck!
ellen-beckermanParticipantI loved this! Thanks for sharing!
ellen-beckermanParticipantwhoops, forgot to post the link: http://www.harpcenter.com/product/kart-bag-dolly/
ellen-beckermanParticipantI have used this harp trolley for my lever harps for many years, and it’s a champ. It’s $255, so not cheap, but it has been well worth it. It is easy to use, and folds up so that it takes little space. The four wheels make it very stable, so you can wheel it everywhere with ease.
ellen-beckermanParticipantI have an Adjustrite Musician’s Chair. It folds up like folding chair, but the legs can be made as long or as short as you want. I like it alot, and think it is more comfortable than the keyboard bench I have. It’s available at amazon.com, and other places. It might work.
