I was taught to have the heels on the floor while the left foot rests on the C pedal and the right rests on the F pedal.

Hi, I started playing at age 4, now I am 9yrs old and barely moving on
to book 2.. I have been learning the Suzuki Method mostly by ear.
I go to school in Illinois and I am ready for a pedal harp.. I have a
Folk Harp right now.. My favorite songs are Rustic Dance, Little Playmates, Christmas Day secrets, Gigue, Good Little King Yveot, and
Adante..I love my harp..My daughter has been playing since 4yrs old..We bought a
Folk Harp by Lyon Healy… We are pretty happy… They have
financing and a rent to own program… You could also search under
LyonHealy.com or also Venus.com …Venus harps are less expensive ..

I just finished attending my first ever Historical Harp Conference and the harp workshop which followed (courtesy of the Amherst Early Music Festival.) I am a pedal harpist who, like you, has a keen interest in early music–in fact, I did graduate work in that area. I’m currently reading Roslyn Rensch’s “Harps and Harpists,” to get some background knowledge of historical harps. It has been quite helpful, but it probably isn’t the last word on the subject. If you belong to the HHS, try e-mailing them your question. Address your inquiry to Jean Humphreys or Cheryl Fulton (the editor of their journal). If the books they suggest are out of print, look them up on “bookfinder.com” or “half.com” to find a used copy. And please share any info you get with me! I would love to read more, too!
I’m also keen to know what published early music you like the best. Can you recommend a publisher? (I do know about the Deborah Friou works.)

As you could probly tell if you look a few questions down to “GBYSO MEMBER RIGHT HERE< BABY!!!", I am quite happy to have been invited to be the principal harpist of the junior repetory orchestra in GBYSO. In addition, In the summer, I also go to the New England Conservatory of Music for a two week program called the Youth Festival Orchestra. In it, we have only 2 weeks to prepare a full concert with pretty advanced repertoire. of course, it isnt as hard on the harpists because they dont play in every peice. In addition to orchestra music in the Youth Festival Orhcestra (or YFO) they also have the orchestr divide into groups of like 3 or 4 to play chamber music.
