I think you would outgrow the flatsicle much faster than the Ravenna.

As Darhon says not all harps are equal, but in quality as well as quantity.

You say you are interested in buying your final harp now, however in a few years time when you may (or may not) outgrow a smaller harp you will know much more your preferences in harps.

My understanding is that timp + 4 is a request for one player on timps and then 4 percussionists to hit other things (Perc tbd or perc = sd (standard) here seeming to refer to which instruments are needed- four players can play far more than four instruments in that section).

About this ‘limited’ thing- multi course harps, such as the baroque triple which was enthusiastically adopted by the Welsh are coming back into vogue for their lack of the limitations of pedal harps, see especially cross strung harps.

A lot of music, as has been mentioned, was written for various instruments, unfortunately music written for ‘harp, guitar or keyboard’ has tended to be poached away from the harp – just as the continuo parts have been.

Is the string breaking right at the knot or where the string comes out from the soundboard?

One of the reasons I think I enjoy orchestral playing with good players but without the pressure of an audience there is little urge to play ‘safe’ and the risks usually do come off really well.

Some Welsh players in the 19th century would apparently play pedal harps on the right shoulder.
