Your question brings a smile to my lips! Ah…to be 24 again! I think you’re thinking of the “tradition route,” in which you start an instrument in grade school and stick with it through high school.
I’ve really enjoyed reading the many answers to your question. I was 50 when I started…and I’ve been at it now for 5.5 years and love it. It will always be a hobby to me (no professional aspirations) and it has given me great joy. And I didn’t even read music when I started!

Yes, let’s not forget food on a trip to Chicago! Catherine is right about the restaurant across the street from L&H. I don’t know the name of it (it’s in a red brick bldg.), but their food is phenomenal, served with fresh, homemade hot bread.
If I ever make another trip back to L&H, I will definitely include a stop at that restaurant!

In this video, harp technician Steve Moss demonstrates how to change a string. I find his method to be the easiest I have ever seen.

Carl Swanson may reply here. I consider him an expert on these matters. There have been several discussion on this board about humidifiers. Last year, Carl posted this about home humidity levels for harps:
“40% to 60% is ideal, but 29% is not that bad. It’s better than 5% or 8%, which is what it would be without any humidification at all.”
A couple of years ago I bought a Bemis Essick Air. Here’s a link with info. I got mine at Menards, but you can buy them many places, including Amazon.com

The thing I like about this humidifier is it covers 2,700 sq. feet and I only need to refill it every 3 days or so. (Earlier, I got a smaller one, and had to fill it at least once a day.)
I’ve been very happy with my Bemis. It has a fan control (low, medium, and high) and you can also set the percentage you want for the humidity level.
