I also own the Niamh and subsequently bought the 36 string Llyr made by Timothy Harps. Love both harps, but I find the string spacing in the Niamh is tighter/closer than what I have experienced as standard spacing. I had difficulty at first going from my pedal harp to the Niamh, but it gets easier as I get more used to it. I picked the Niamh from a small “Harp Tasting” at Somerset at few years ago. Its sound won, in my opinion, hands down.
luanne-oreillyMemberThank you Susan! I did not think of this – I’m off to Wal-mart. If this does the trick, I will be forever grateful. I’ve not been able to be at the harp for more than 10 minutes without the pain setting in. I’ve been to chiropractors, am currently enduring deep tissue massages (no fun), to no avail. Would love to get that axe out of my shoulder!!!
luanne-oreillyMemberI have the Timothy 27 string Niamh. Sounds very good, resonant bass, Truitt levers. I love his four legged harp stand. I searched quite a while before hearing the Niamh at a Somerset “small harp tasting”. When I heard this harp, I knew it was “the one”.
luanne-oreillyMemberTime flies.
luanne-oreillyMemberDo pedal harps float I wonder?
luanne-oreillyMemberHi Sam – I’ve heard you twice on the 23 already!
luanne-oreillyMemberString spacing is the same as a grand.
luanne-oreillyMemberNot dumb at all.
luanne-oreillyMemberI’ve had the Arion 47 string for about a year now.
luanne-oreillyMemberI had a Chicago Petite until just two weeks ago.
luanne-oreillyMemberI’m also 57 and definitely have hip pain if I sit too long.
luanne-oreillyMemberI just attended the Somerset small harp tasting, and my person favorite was the Timothy Harp’s Niamh.
luanne-oreillyMemberMy wonderful teacher solved this problem for me.
luanne-oreillyMemberThere has been previous discussion regarding the Chicago line – possibly in the Harps and Accessories section.
