ParticipantYup! played alot of Irish tunes today, (especially, since I’m 100% Irish)….”Brian Boru’s March”, “Bridget O’Malley”, “Foggy Dew”, and of course “Danny Boy”…..great day!

ParticipantHi Diana, just wondering if you can elaborate on the Camac Aziliz harp, (that is if you own one…the sound, portability, etc.)…don’t mean to hijack this thread, but I’m considering purchasing one and would love to know more about it…..thanks, Gloria

ParticipantI agree with Barbara, try to get to the Dusty shop and have someone play them for you.

ParticipantHi,
I actually played a used Crescendo 32 (same harp, but newer one has the additional 2 strings) in a local music store last year, and am kicking myself now for not having purchased it (price was right!)…I loved the tone (it filled the room), and the feel of it, but I figured since I already had the bigger Dusty (36S), I didn’t need a smaller one, but now find that it would’ve come in handy for bringing to my harp ring and practices….hope that helps!
Good luck!

ParticipantHi Candy,
Redlands University here in So. Cal. holds a week long summer harp camp every year.

ParticipantWhat about renting a harp for awhile?..Harp Connection (www.harpconnection.com) has many harps for rent, and I just saw a 34 string Ogden for only $50/mo., and 4 months of that rental fee can be applied to the purchase, if you wanted to do that.

ParticipantI also agree, 34-36 strings..(the more strings the better!!) And, a great value harp, depending upon if you’re in the U.S., is the Dusty Strings Ravenna 34 string harp..it has a wonderful tone and a drop-down leg for portability.…Good Luck!

ParticipantHi Jerusha,
No, there are no YouTube videos, that I know of, but if you go to Sylvia Woods’ website, you can listen to samples of these tunes from William Jackson’s CD, “Ancient Harp of Scotland”…..Gloria

ParticipantTraditional Scottish Music, by William Jackson…(a little tricky because of all the grace notes, but otherwise lovely tunes)….

ParticipantOkay, so now I’m wondering if there will ever be carbon fiber pedal harps??

ParticipantJust watched “Monkey Business” and caught Harpo playing a lovely tune on what looked like a Lyon and Healy gold pedal harp with extended soundboard…..amazing that he played by ear, even his harmonics were flawless!

ParticipantAll three of my (lever) harp covers are hanging from big hooks in my basement, which stays very dry year round..
