ParticipantHi Jodi,
I have both of those tuners, but prefer to use the Snark SN-2, which is very portable. I just clip it onto my tuner key, and tune my Dusty 36S, and it’s so quick and easy. However, when I’m tuning in the higher octaves, I usually flip the tiny switch from, “vib” to “mic” to pick up those notes. I bought mine on Amazon around 3 years ago for the low price of $9.95….harpglo-jean
ParticipantI also agree that Stoney End Harps in Minnesota has a nice selection of small harps, and the tone on their harps is very nice!

ParticipantAny of Suzanne Guildimann’s books, which are mostly Early Music/Renaissance tunes, will do perfectly for your small harp. I have 5 of her books, and really enjoy her arrangements, which I play on my Ravenna 26. And, I just purchased JoAnna Mell’s book, “Peaceful Pieces for Small Harps” and I love it! Very easy, and very lovely tunes!

ParticipantHi,
I have an FH36S in walnut and I love it! It was my first harp (built in 2005) and has the most gorgeous, mellow tone, even more so today. I don’t think that, as you say, it “hurt” that you only heard and played the maple one, since it sounds like that particular model’s tone has totally captivated you, and that’s what you want, when you have to make a selection. And, yes, sometimes the size and weight (mine weighs 25lbs.+ in the case) bugs me, but I’m used to it now, and still place the strap over my shoulder, and carry it here and there, without the use of a dolly. So go for it, you won’t regret getting a Dusty!

ParticipantMy Korg tuner was doing the same thing, the readings were all over the place, so I bought The Snark (all instrument tuner), which clips nicely onto a tuning pin, or an opening in the soundbox.

ParticipantNice pictures and blog about the carbon fiber harps. Do you happen to know how many strings the new Legend harp has, and did Dave quote a potential price for that yet? Thanks

ParticipantAmen Deb, you said it best! Beauty, as sounds, are in the eyes, and ears of the beholder…I heard what “I” heard……

ParticipantThe Ravenna hands down!…As I stated on another post, I own a Ravenna 26 and love it! The depth of tone and the resonance are incredible for such a small harp, whereas the Harpsicle, to my ears, is shallow and “twangy” sounding and the string tension is very light.

ParticipantHi Renate,
I was at one time considering purchasing a Flatsicle harp (levers on C,B,F), but decided against it, after I heard one at my harp ring meeting, and after watching some YouTube videos. The tone didn’t sound good to me at all, kind of “twangy”.

ParticipantA fully levered Dusty Strings Ravenna 34-string harp, sells for around $1895, and has the most beautiful tone.

ParticipantHi, I drive an ’09 Toyota Highlander and load my big Dusty Strings 36S into it with ease, and lots of extra room leftover for my bench, and gig bag, so I’m certain that you will be able to load your L&H semi 85 in there also…it’s a great vehicle, good luck!
