Thanks Amber and Jennifer, I just ordered the Melody version in a pdf. It cost me $5 🙂
I might also buy the Kolle version in a few weeks. My wife and I have welcomed two more grandchildren in the past 6 days and our funds are pouring into spoiling them appropriately!,,

Thanks Allison, I wish I could see a sample to determine if the harp just accompanies the flute or actually plays the song Frank

My favorite thing about my new L&H Ogden and my Noteworthy County Kerry is that they’re mine. 🙂

Hi folks, thanks for all the helpful recommendations and ideas…I really appreciate all of them. I will look at the harps you suggested. I’ve been renting the Ogden and I’m surprised that the general consensus that it is a training harp for future pedal harpists! I tend to prefer the concert spacing and higher tension…perhaps it’s due to almost 40 years of playing classical guitar, which also has wider spacing and higher tension than other acoustic guitars. Whatever the reason, I’d be interested in all the Ogden experiences that people would be willing to share. What are your likes or dislikes? Frank

Hi folks, an update on my recent shoulder surgery and related harp situation. The surgeon was not able to reattach my bicep tendon (it was the second time it has been torn loose). I also had two rotator cuff tears that were repaired but the shoulder is now deemed “unrepairable” if there is further damage. As as result, I have decided to sell my 38 string Salvi McFall and purchase the 34 string L&H Ogden. The Ogden is 10#s lighter and 10 inches shorter, making it much easier to to transport.
If anyone is interested in the Salvi McFall, I have posted a classified ad with photo.
Here is a summary of the classified ad:
I am selling the McFall harp with a full set of replacement strings, custom transport case, dust cover, and harp cart all for $3500 (buyer responsible for shipping). I live in Anderson, Indiana and my contact info is:
    fopianki@anderson.edu (765) 621-4372

    thanks Frank

IHi JB, I own a County Kerry that I’m interested in selling due toI permanent shoulder injuries. I bought it County Kerry new in May, 2012 Andalusia had a custom Guardian travel bag made for it. They are beautifully, handmade harps, impeccable craftsmanship and have a balanced, surprising loud sound. If you are interested let me know. Frank
ps. There is information and a photo of my County Kerry on my profile…along with my email address

I own a Salvi McFall, which was the model that the Egan replaced. It is also a beautiful 38 string Celtic harp. I am currently recovering from shoulder surgery which was not as successful as hoped. Therefore I may be selling my McFall. It would include a brand new custom transport case from Pratt harp, a full set of new strings, dust cover, and cart. The harp was also regulated and inspected by Steve Moss in Oct 2012. If anyone is interested in talking about the McFall let me know. I see my surgeon again next week and will find out whether I will be able to play it again. Frank

Hi Lisa, Thanks for the information on the Lewis Creek Harp…I’m going to check it out. Sould like we have had similar experiences…besides my previous 4 rotator cuff surgeries I had a full hip replacement last year. I need to seriously evaluate whether the Salvi is the right harp for me given these problems! Frank

I apologize for being unclear…actually my intent was to keep the discussion to harps rather than my injury and obviously that didn’t work! 🙂 I have a 38 string Salvi McFall and my teacher has told me to refrain from playing it to prevent further damage. The combination of higher tension strings, keeping my hands elevated and the longer reach makes it impossible for me to play it. However, I have been able to play a smaller lap harp, set it on a bench, fairly comfortably. I can keep my hands lower, there is lighter string tension, and the reach is doable. So I’m thinking about finding a 26 sting floor harp that would provide enough strings to proactice in a safe and comfortable manner. My son and his fiancee have asked me to play at their wedding next August and I’d hate to miss that experience.. Thanks Frank

My problem is a torn rotator cuff (right) and it will be a while before I can schedule surgery due to my faculty obligations. This will also be my fifth RC surgery, so it is an ongoing problem (3 left, 2 right). It is painful to raise my arms too high or reach too far

Well…I just returned from having my harp regulated by Steve Moss. He is living in Indiana and in just 2 hours he made my Salvi play like it’s brand new! Well worth the 4 hour round trip. Thanks for the help Frank

Who is the certification body? Is it L&H? I hear this term Certified Harp Tech. quite often but I’m unclear as to whether there is one certification body or numerous…similar to accreditation in universities. thanks!
