My beautiful Kirby (retriever mix) passed away in mid December, and I finally couldn’t stand having a house with no doggie. It was sooooooo bleak and empty without my Kirbs. I know he can never be replaced, but I also know there are a lot of homeless critters out there, and I was a critterless dogmom.

Oh and speaking of harp dog….my new pup Briggs came in the tv room last evening with something in his mouth I didn’t recognize……my ergonomic tuning key….with the end chewed off. He has customized it for me. 🙂

This one really isn’t harp related, but my sister plays piano and has a little shitzu who will go and get one particular squeaky toy and sit under the baby grand, squeaking along in rhythm with “Fur Elise.”

In my house you can no longer mention “the french composer” in front our border collie or she runs around the room in a frenzy, then charges out into the yard barking…you cannot say “Debussy” as he hears “the pussy” cat. You also cannot say anything is amusing – “funny” sounds like “bunny”. Rubber “mat” is cat or rat (both good doggie words) – and of course anything that rhymes with walk is a no no. Even spelling walk is a no no. And even making a walking gesture with your fingers elicits frenzied behavior and running around in circles…its all about going hunting for Debussy…

I have a harp bird! She built a nest last week on our front door
wreath. She’s brown and very tiny, like a hummingbird. I have named her
Helene since she hears “La Source” all day long so I must assume that
is one reason she built her nest there. Hasselmans dedicated “La
Source” to his student Helene Gayat.

Here’s a piccie I took this morning showing her nest on the wreath with
my harp in the background. You can also see the recessed lighting that
    lets me see to play…
