You are right Barbara. HandeBalm will stop the pain, help it heal faster and will cut down on the splitting of the finger tips. We have first hand knowledge of the effectiveness of this product since my daughter was a gymnast and one of our friends is a harpist also. If you go to the page and click on “about us” you find that Mr. Rankin
owns the company. I thought it was weird that he posted the same thing
twice. For that reason alone, I will never use his products. We don’t
come here to read spam!

Barbara, I’m not saying that the product has no merit. I simply feel
that it is inappropriate to use forums like this as free advertising.
This person is selling a product that is not specifically for harpists,
but for gymnasts, and his only reason for posting here is to sell a
product. It would have been fine for yourself or someone else to give a
personal testimony for a product that worked for them or someone they
know (many of us have in this thread).

Am I wrong to feel this way? Every time someone asks if there is a
product out there that will make our harping lives easier, do we want
multiple posts from outside people who followed a Google link to a
thread? I would rather see posts from people who have actual experience
with a product and no connection with the company.

I just went back up the thread a ways and noticed that a lot of people
must have found this thread by Googling the “dry, splitting, cracking,
etc”. I guess if it helps them that is a good thing. I just didn’t like
the way he made it sound like he had found this great product, only to
find out he makes the stuff.

You are right Leigh. I am new at this and no idea what I was doing. I just wanted to say something about it. Have a parent call me and say they are calling for a harpist and I will send them a free jar.

Thank-you, Herb, for openly admitting it! Hmmm, I only know a couple of
“harp parents”. Most of the folks in my ensemble are parents
themselves, or grandparents – even great-grandparents! 😮

Has anyone mentioned that in addition to fish oil, and all the other good things mentioned, massaging the crackes before bedtime with antibiotic cream (OTC) can really soothe the cracked skin? Ooops- maybe I mentioned it before.
