This is Gayle Barrington’s revised and edited version of Marcel Tournier’s original work from 1922, “Vers la source dans le bois” (Toward the Water in the Woods), for solo pedal harp. Widely regarded as a classic of the pedal harp repertoire, the piece features a flowing pattern of notes in the right hand and melody and chords in the left hand. Pedal changes are clearly marked in this edition.
This piece is available as a PDF download for $16.95.

Love this edition! It has made it so much easier to learn this piece – at least the notes. It has saved me so much time. I had started learning it with the original edition but it was extremely slow going, then read about this one in Harp Column. Very glad I bought it! Highly recommend it.

I should add that after reading the discussion in the latest issue of Harp Column magazine I hesitated to get this edition because of the strong view expressed against it – but so glad I did.

I have the original piece I learned with Dr. Inglefield at the Peabody Conservatory. She circled the enharmonics and gave me wonderful fingering tips to get the piece in my hands faster. I like this version because it is confirmation of all of the enharmonic and questions I might have after letting the piece get ‘cold’ for a few years. Its actually a great idea to have both versions and compare them.
