Gayle Barrington – Harp Column Music

We are excited to have arrangements by the late Gayle Barrington now on Harp Column Music. Gayle and her husband, horn player Wayne Barrington, created and operated Barrington Music Publications to digitally transcribe and offer arrangements for harp and horn, including those by Whit Dudley. Proceeds from Barrington Music Publications benefit the Whit Dudley Endowed Memorial Scholarship at the University of Texas, Austin.

After beginning harp in her native Texas, Gayle studied with Alice Chalifoux and then Carlos Salzedo in Camden Maine. She became a member of Salzedo's Angelaires quintet, and then went on to play with orchestras throughout the U.S. including the Austin Symphony, where she remained until 1982. She also taught harp at the University of Texas in Austin until 2001. Wayne Barrington was also a professor at U.T. after a career playing with major orchestra including a decade with Chicago Symphony under the legendary Fritz Reiner.
