Danza Cubana

“Danza Cubana” is an original work for solo pedal harp by Alfredo Rolando Ortiz. Says Ortiz, “This piece was inspired by childhood memories of my country of birth, Cuba, the sugar cane fields, the Royal Palms, the warm rain as we played outdoors at my grandfather’s farm, and the marvelous nights with millions of stars.” After a dramatic introduction, the melody weaves around a bass pattern based on the “Cuban Clave” rhythmic pattern. This piece is included in the composer’s International Rhythmic Collection Vol. 2.
