have contributed $1000 instead of birthday and Christmas presents for the
purpose of buying her a harp. I have come close, but I haven’t found a harp for
her yet. My favorite choice for her is a maple FH26 from Dusty Strings for a
travel harp or a Salvi Livia for a full size harp. Any leads or suggestions would

teacher at the Brandon University.
KatrinaMy teacher once was playing at a private concert and she had invited me to
come and listen, obviously. They were playing a Debussy trio for harp, flute
and viola. I know my teacher had been complaining that there were sooo
many pedal changes, and of course, right in the middle of a not-exactly-easy
pedal change a bass string broke. Goodness that was so loud! And the funny
thing about it was that an old man who had fallen asleep next to me then
woke with a start, thought that it meant the piece was over and started
clapping loudly.The Boildieu concerto is a really nice piece-but it would be a pretty big
project, unless you’re a very quick learner! It has a lot of technically
challenging parts, especially the last movment. But it’s also great for
musicality-the second movement has grogeous melodies!Try Steve Fritzmann(SteveF@lyonhealy.com).
A really nice piece would be Hassesmans “Ballade”. It’s also technically a
little more challenging, I think. It has some very nice melodies with
harmoniques, and very nice glissandos-I think it’s 2 pages of glissandos. I
would recommend it!
KatrinaMaybe if when you are learning new pieces, you get tense in your back. The
back (oh dear now i’m starting on a health lecture!) is often the cause for
shoulder, arm, and neck pain. Actually, almost all pain starts in the back, even
hip and thigh pain. It has to do with the ligaments that conect somewhere in
there. So if your learning new pieces, it could be that you slouch and lean
forward without realising it. I do that too without realising it, and when i do I
quickly correct it, because otherwise I get a stiff neck. (though this is only if I’m
sitting at my compu too long!) So always make sure you’re relaxed when
you’re praticing!

KatrinaIf you can’t find an individual harpist to buy your cover, you might want to check local universities and/or school districts. Often times they’ll have a harp, but without the appropriate padding and covers. I hope this helps. And I do apologize for not knowing anyone personally who is interested in buying your cover. I would buy it if I had money. 🙂
