Hello all! I did a little Tantum Ergo from Sam Milligan’s Fun from the First book, volume one.

It’s really slow now that I look at it. There’s my naughty Ogden with the buzzy levers 😉

I also was wondering about them as they are cheaper than the 85 series. Although I would love an 85CG, it’s that much more expensive!

Thanks for all the replies. If any of you have started on lever harp, when did you make the switch? Did your instructor tell you when?

Thanks, Patricia. Your suggestions and wise words were helpful! I’ll be giving the matter thought; the purchase won’t be for a while, for sure. 🙂

Could I purchase the 3rd, 4th, and 5th octaves in Vanderbilt Nylon, or perhaps the Burgundy Gut strings?

Because if my Ogden doesn’t mind being strung up top with nylon until I can get the proper strings, I’d be thrilled.

I have already replaced one string, and I’ve had the harp for two weeks. I think it was the third F string… and I replaced with with a cheap nylon string I’d already had on hand, and it doesn’t sound any different than the gut string previously on the Ogden.

see, I was thinking I’d do the same thing….replace a broken string with a nylon until I could purchase the right

I started with suzanne balderston’ step by step (blue book) then moved onto both fun from the first by sam milligan and first harp book by betty paret.

I also have Harp excersises for agility and speed by deborah friou 🙂

I just bought an Ogden, so I am assuming it is the Ogden with gut strings. Would the folk Harp string set be all right for it?

It’s really pretty. What finish is that? It looks like mahogany 🙂

Thanks for the information! I have had trouble finding pedal nylon rather than lever… Maybe I’m looking in all the wrong places 🙂

So what sort of “skeleton set” would you recommend?

    Thanks again, Norah

The aggressive playing in Sawdust and Diamonds is absolutely amazing. By far, my favorite song by Joanna. Personally I don’t prefer her voice, its a little too irregular for me, but I dream of having lessons from her. 🙂
