OK, this is what has transpired.

I bought little clip on lights at the Dollar Tree to try before a invested in any. The concept would probably work. The ones I bought rattled.

I played with a string ensemble for Christmas at an auditorium and they let me sit with my Dusty directly under a light and positioned around me. I didn’t need my Orchestra light at all. Yea!

Then I bought a pedal harp. Woohoo, it is lovely and within a couple of weeks was asked to play for a funeral. So the real test came. Being a beginner and nerves pumping, it went very well.

We were able adjust the brightness of the can lights and I positioned the harp just right. The Orchestra Mighty Bright worked well.

In playing around with the lights off at home, I realized that I could shine the light on the strings and play. So…………. I ordered another identical light so one can be on the strings and one on the music should I ever need this.

I also ordered Concedo strings.

May seem like overkill but remember I am not young and my eyes do not see as well as they used to.

Well…. I ordered the 20 Carols book and was really stressing as the time is close.

We met yesterday afternoon and it all worked out. We are playing for a Christmas Concert with many people involved but they are making us a string ensemble for our presentation with 2 violins, a viola and cello that are well seasoned musicians plus the six year old and myself.

The music director picked two songs from my music and wrote a very simple part for the six year old on the spot. The six year old and I practiced and when we all practice next week the rest of them will just improvise, embellish, etc.

I am very excited as this is my first time out with my harp in public.

I am 49 and have been playing a Dusty Ravenna 34 for a year and a half. It has been well over 30 years since I have had any music experience. I had a retired teacher who was willing to get me started for the first six months as I live in a small town and the nearest teacher is two hours away. But…. I will be making that drive as soon as my new pedal harp arrives from France. Yoo Whoo! Yea Hooray!

Thanks for the suggestion. I will try new batteries. I usually plug it in at home and today was the first day I used it with the batteries that came with it.

I am open minded on the harp. I am not anywhere near a harp showroom and there is not a single harpist within 100 miles. So over the last year a college string ensemble traveled through and the harpist had a Salvi that she let me pluck and of course I listened to her during the concert. I went to a harp festival and someone brought their LH 85P that I was able to play. They were OK and would be good but listening to the sound clips of the camac, I really liked it.

We might fly to a showroom in the end.

I would need to amplify most of the time and a pick up would probably due well also. I would be using the Dusty for nursing homes, hospitals, funerals, etc where I would not need amplification.

I am new and learning, so I appreciate all your help.
