My recorder is a Tascam GT-R1, and I’ve been really pleased with it.

Well, Aodhán’s made his recording debut!

Then there’s always “wire harpers do it with their fingernails” 😉

The problem with them taking oversized cabin baggage and putting it in the hold is that you are in the exact same pickle as if you had shipped the harp to begin with…only WITHOUT the hard case and extra protection you would have used if you’d been planning to ship it as baggage.

The first thing you want to do is some research on the actual model of plane you will be flying on.

Another thing to bear in mind is that you may be making more progress than you think you are.

I just have to add regarding sight reading…don’t beat yourself up over that at all!

I keep my harp tuned in F…it’s very handy to have that extra key (a lot of hymns seem to be in F or its relative minor).

If your harp has been tuned in C, you’ll notice that it will take a while for the B strings to be content to stay at Bb.

    My teacher says the same.

Usually you only replace strings if they’re beginning to sound “dead.”

Though, to be honest, if by “keep your fingers in shape” you just mean keeping them nimble and not entirely losing your fingerings, there’s really no reason a Harpsicle wouldn’t do.

The Ravenna 26 is a lovely instrument, but while it’s very portable as floor harps go (it’s definitely not a lap harp) it’s not the word’s greatest travel harp.

I have to add as well that, while I like my Harpsicle, and I do use it for traveling (the tension may be too light to keep the fingers “in shape,” as it were, but it does keep the tunes under my fingers), I would consider putting the extra money into levers a bit of a waste.
