It shouldn’t go out of tune that easily, Asha, unless the strings are new, or unless it’s not in a case when you transport it (or in some instances, if you really knock it against something).
I have a Ravenna 26, and can tell you that it’s a lovely sounding instrument, with a nice, bright tone…perfect for traditional music.

How long it will take you to learn to play a tune depends on a lot of factors, including how complicated the tune is (one nice thing about the harp is that even very simple tunes can sound lovely and quite accomplished on it), how easy (or not so easy) you find the basics, and most importantly, how often you practice.
Wire-strung harps Celtic harps are traditionally strung with either bronze or brass, both of which are, I believe, an alloy of copper (I’d have to look it up to be sure…this is half-remembered information from high school, which was a long time ago).
The one that really got me was when I played a tune on both my Harpsicle (Ash Grove) and another on my wire-strung Dreamsinger (Maol Dònaidh) for my aunt.
What you’re describing is normal.
When you play for your teacher, the same mechanism comes into play as when you perform.
