Well, if you have levers on your harp, and you know that engaging the lever makes the note sharp, wouldn’t it stand to reason that those are sharping (or “sharpening”) levers?

I’m not familiar with the Bruner, other than hearing it referred to here, but the Woods book is geared musically more toward a folk/traditional repetoire.
