I would also be concerned that you may void your warranty on the harp by not using strings approved by teh manufacturer.

The harpist Meta Epstein recorded a CD of harp and accordian music with Abel Mambreani on accordian. It’s a very entertaining CD, called Passion.
I saw that harp…it’s sad to see a harp in such a state. It looks to have been a pretty little harp, originally. But you’re right, isn’t the starting bid $1,000?

I’m surprised to hear you describe your Prelude as “tinny”. I’ve had two that were outstanding in both tone, volume and projection. But that’s what makes choosing a harp so interesting. Each harp is very individual. Purchasing without trying first is always hard, as you might get a dud, you might get an okay harp, or you might get something really outstanding.
One that I’ve gotten several times is “Are you practicing for when you get to Heaven?”
I also got “Oh, look, there’s a cello!” once.

I had a terrible time with my neck quite a few years ago, and it turned out to be caused by sitting on a stool that was the incorrect height for my harp. I had to have chiropractic treatment for several months. My teacher at the time was unaware of the problem, because at lessons, I played her harp and sat on her chair, so she didn’t see how I was practicing at home. If you haven’t already, you might want to have your teacher evaluate how you sit at your harp on the stool or chair you normally use. Hope this helps!

Kay, why not get a jump on things and offer to play soothing music for the mother-to-be? Maybe you’ll get in a little prenatal influence!

It’s too bad you don’t already know belly dancing…you could do both and be Curly Wurly the Swirly Gurly! Maybe you need to drap a few scarves and bells around your attire to fit in the mood of the affair! (kidding, of course!)

It is very nice to have more than one harp, so you can take a lighter harp to gigs or traveling if you want, or to loan or rent out if another harpist is in need. And also just to have the peace of mind that if one of your harps is ever in the shop for repairs, you still have something else to play.
