“When the World Paused” is a collection of eleven original lever or pedal harp solos by Pedal Sliders’ Amanda Whiting. “This book has been written with the intention of making jazz fun and accessible on the harp,” says the composer. “We have kept lever changes and pedalling to an absolute minimum, allowing you to concentrate on the rhythm and improvising.” Scroll down for contents and to purchase individual pieces.

I love this collection of pieces that Amanda has put together. All of the pieces are fresh and jazzy with so much room for interpretation. It is a very lever and pedal harp friendly collection, so you can relax and improvise. I really like how she has boxes with scale guides, showing which notes to improvise with depending on the chord. I think a harpist at any level would find this to be a wonderful addition to their collection. I have enjoyed playing through all the pieces and will definitely be adding these to my set list!

Love this book!! Love how something like this can come from challenging and reflective times! Amanda’s compositions are clever and thoughtful, allowing so much space for the harpist to make them unique, and yet still guiding and leading the way for the harpist that is learning about playing jazz and blues music as they go! Amanda is also a wonderful teacher (online group lessons worked fantastically) and its able to inspire and encourage so naturally – every student can sense progress and development in their playing.
