Naz Barı

Meriç Dönük has arranged “Naz Bari,” a traditional tune from Azerbaijan, for solo pedal harp. “The melody is built on a melodic scale / maqam, called ‘Hicaz,'” says Dönük. “The specific color of this maqam comes from the augmented 2nd interval of B flat and C sharp notes on the scale.” This piece is great for harpists interested in maqam music or Middle Eastern traditional music.
