Lauren Scott’s On a Blue Hill is a quartet for lever or pedal harp. An optional, easier, fifth part is also included for larger groups or mixed abilities. Inspired by Christina Rossetti’s poem “Clouds,” this contemporary work moves through four sections—”Cumulus,” “Stratocumulus,” “Altocumulus,” and “Cirrostratus”—featuring serene textures and subtle “blue”-tinged jazz harmonies. Written in 2021 during Scott’s residency with Harps North West, it offers colorful extended techniques. This piece is also available for harp duet.
