Loyal Opposition

James Sclater’s Loyal Opposition is for two pedal harps. This challenging piece uses many rhythms with different sets of pitches. Sclater says that it is “harmonically adventurous but with a strong folk melodic element. The two instruments are ‘loyal’ to each other rhythmically and ‘opposed’ in tonality.”
