Jacqueline Pollauf’s Glissando Exercises is a collection of 50 exercises for solo lever or pedal harp. This collection gives you a chance to build your glissando skills, beginning with simple ascending and descending glissandos and moving on to overlapping glissandos, crossing glissandos, and multiple glissandos in one hand. Pollauf adds, “These exercises also focus on equalizing skills, so that you will be comfortable using either hand while being precise with the range and rhythm of the glissando.”
This collection is available as a PDF download for $15.00.

There is little printed pedagogy for harp students. Book by book, this teacher is creating a much needed systematic approach to help students to develop skills and confidence with every kind of glissando imaginable. These books were created in a way that page-by-page , the student is introduced to exercises to help develop the ability to understand the importance of rhythmic timing with glissandos, the dexterity to stop and start glissandos thereby giving greater control and tone. The clear fonts/printing also helps give great exposure to different glissando notation(s). Her Harmonic Exercises book is also one of my favorites. Highly recommend.

Thanks to Jacqueline Pollauf’s Glissando Exercises, I learned to play glisses in a short period of time. The book presents glissandos broken into simple, accessible movement, exercises that build right and left-hand independence, and sequentially develops into challenging coordination exercises. The introduction to the book also provides clear, easy to follow directions for glissandos in future harp music. I highly recommend this essential book!
