Note from the arranger
The first, longer, version repeats the hymn four times through, beginning with a clear statement of the theme followed by three variations. The second, short, version includes just the theme with an introduction and coda. The introduction and coda briefly quote the “gloria” section of “Angels We Have Heard on High,” connecting Christmas to Easter.
Skills required for long version (intermediate): harmonics, placing four notes, LH octaves, RH 6ths
Skills required short version (advanced beginner): placing four notes, some crossing over, RH 6ths
Range of short version: C at bottom of bass clef and C above treble staff (three octaves)
