VeronikaParticipant
I’d love to sing some Bach accompanied by harp. Ideas, anyone, please?
VeronikaParticipant23 to 28 July 2022, apparently. There’s going to be an online event this July, too, according to the website, although the programme didn’t look that interesting to me. (Plus, online music events just do not work for me, so I’ll just keep looking forward to next year.)
VeronikaParticipantI use creams that are meant for eczema sufferers instead of a regular hand cream. Here in the UK the brands are Epaderm and Cetrabene and you can buy them over the counter in pharmacies.
VeronikaParticipantCongratulations on starting to learn! Just to add one data point, I started at the age of 41. Compared to my childhood piano lessons I’ve progressed much faster on the harp. I think adults have a great advantage in that they are able to practise far more efficiently. (This is itself a skill that needs to be learned – I’ve found The Bulletproof Musician blog very helpful. In addition to my teacher’s guidance, of course.)
VeronikaParticipantI’m very sorry to hear that Brook has passed away.

Thanks for posting the link!

I’m working from home, but that’s not much of a hardship. Our local community is very supportive. I feel I am very lucky compared with many others.
I just wish more people took this seriously. We might get a lockdown soon, largely because of unbelievable crowds of m****s gathering and mingling outdoors this weekend.
VeronikaParticipantThe WHC has been postponed till 2021.

VeronikaParticipantJosh Layne’s latest Harp Tuesday episode is about the practicalities Skype lessons. Worth watching.
VeronikaParticipantWe use Zoom at work for videoconferencing and it is very easy to set up meetings. I don’t have any experience of using it for music, but speech is perfectly fine, no distortions as far as I can tell. The video is also fine even from the tiny camera on my laptop.
VeronikaParticipantI’ve been learning Deborah Friou’s To Drive the Cold Winter Away! It’s lovely, isn’t it.
I also have my eye on Carol Wood’s Christmas at Arthur’s Court.
VeronikaParticipantThanks, Jerusha. 🙂
VeronikaParticipantIt’s nice to see a thread like this again.
I’m putting the finishing touches (read: frantically trying to bring up to performance standard) on Broceliande by Annie Challan and Captain O’Kane as arranged by Aryeh Frankfurter. I’m going to play both at a Christmas concert. The O’Carolan piece will be a duet with a flautist and I’m really looking forward to that.

VeronikaParticipantOK, I won’t try! 😀
