ParticipantWow, I’m impressed with all of the research you did on my harps! Thanks so much for the thorough response! Definitely helpful.

Thanks Biaggio, this was informative! My harp is a Grand Harpsicle, not high tension, nylon strings… So hopefully it will be ok 🙂

ParticipantThanks Biagio, and Bernhard, for the helpful responses!

ParticipantAbout two months ago I played one in a shop. I actually kind of liked it. The owner of the shop said it was a newer version, which was an improvement upon its predecessor. I thought it had a nice enough sound and the tension didn’t seem excessively light to me. I play a Salvi Livia which has, I think, medium-high tension. I love the tension of my Livia but didn’t find the “new” harpsicle objectionable. Hope that helps.

ParticipantAnn, I really like the Blevins Meadowind. I have had my eye on it for many months. It truly calls my name… but I am sure my husband would not understand my wanting another harp, and would not be happy to spend the money on one.
Maybe I should just aspire toward that and keep hoping…one day.
I own a couple of other instruments that I don’t use anywhere near as much as the harp, I suppose I could try and sell them… but I don’t think he’d understand that either. I might need to do it anyhow…

Thanks so much, Janis and Angela. I admit I am guilty of being tuned in plain old C major. But I suppose I can figure out how to manage that from what you guys have told me. Thanks again, it’s certainly helpful info!

Thank you, Biagio!
I am looking into therapeutic music rather than music therapy. Basically where one plays harp for the bed-ridden, but not necessarily interactively. Like MHTP and Dee Sweeney’s program too.

Thanks, Biagio! I’m hoping to purchase some of Harper’s music for the 26-string, as per your advice. It does seem easier to adjust from 26 to 36 as opposed to the other way around, in general…

Thank you, Angela. That’s a really great and useful idea, I may just do as you say and learn my pieces from a book meant for smaller harps and adjust as needed to my Livia. Thanks so much!

Thanks everyone. This has been truly helpful, and I appreciate your support even though we don’t know each other 🙂
Janis Cortese, wouldn’t it be okay to just let the piano call you back when it’s time? Maybe you can keep switching whenever it feels right?

ParticipantThank you, Allison! It feels good and affirming to be understood. :0)

Sounds easy enough! Thanks! How many do you suppose I should do?

I once tried out a Ravenna 34 and quite liked the sound. Nice and bright. Enjoy!
