ParticipantI use a Roland CD 2 machine. If you are not good with computer, this is the best. It can record on SD card or directly on CD or it can be burn multiple copies. I use the internal mic to record my playing and my students playing and lesson and it’s like studio quality. If you use actual mic, it’s even better. Give it a try.

ParticipantI came cross the same harp last year listed in my city. (Calgary, canada)
And it was asking for $3200 ( the people paid $5400 cdn back in 2007) I bargain with them for $2800cdn but they replied $3000. I kind of regret I didn’t get it.
The tone of the camac Korrigan I saw was good, althought there was couple of lever really hard to turn. ( I played the harp only 1 yr.)
But if there no obvious cosmetic damage, I think it shoud be a good value.

ParticipantThanks for your poet. I had decided not to buy that second hand camac korrigan because I would like to stick with my custom lever harp and save money for a pedal harp sometime in the next 2 years.
Thanks anyway.

ParticipantCheck with west coast harp in Vancouver island. I remember they ship to Vancouver very cheap or maybe free. They are very nice to talk to. The owner may be able to teach in Vancouver too. Just google West Coast Harp.

ParticipantOne thing I teach about sightreading piano music is to look for pattern.
Harp is the same way, since it’s treble and bass. Let say, CDE, it’s stepping up. Or read out more chord on the LH, seeing the chord notes in a bunch, is better than reading each note at a time.

ParticipantNissan produces very good vehicle. I owned 5 different Nissan vehicles in the past 15 years. Recently just traded in my pathfinder for an armada. Very good to drive and maintain. I don’t know the size of your harp but my pathfinder 2006 before can lay all the seat down to completely flat back. I was transporting a big 36 strings lever harp and no problem at all. In fact, I can probably fit like 3 lever harps when the seats are down. Check if the seats fold down for 2001.

ParticipantI own a Music academy and I state the payment policy very clearly before people sign up. We take a whole year of postdated cheques all dated the first day of the month. Or they authorize us to charge the monthly fee on their credit card on the first day of the month. If the do not wish to forward posted dated cheque, they need to give us the cheque before the last day of the month or the lessons on the coming month will be cancel or a late fee of $15 will be applied on account.
I’m in Canada and economy in my city is one of strongest and people are still able to pay for lessons in full (whole year) sometimes.
Policy are verbally explained and sign on this back of registration form.
That’s how we do it.

Very fun and educational. I wish more people respond to posting. I see so many people reading but sometimes not many people comment.

ParticipantHi Deb and Jessica,
This is the way I get around keeping up with my instruments. It is pretty good so far. When you realize you miss playing one instrument that week, just quickly play a few songs on it and remember to work on that the next week.
It was hard this month while I was finishing my thesis for my master degree. I really had to leave all the instruments alone and stop all my lessons (learning from the harp teacher) Now, I’m done with the thesis (finally submitted yesterday!) and I was playing the harp and my Chinese table harp for a couple hours last night!!!

ParticipantLook for Acoustic Foam. I used that in my Music Academy to prevent sound from travelling to next room.
We used number of stuff, sound insulating drywall, metal sound preventing spacer inside the wall and sound insulating ceiling tile. We still can hear sound in the room next door. Then I order Acoustic Foam (2 inches) from ebay and it worked very good.

ParticipantHi everyone,
That’s exactly the same situation I saw when I was trying out

ParticipantI play many instruments everyday. I teach piano and violin 6 days a week in my music academy and play all the instruments all the time. (piano, violin, Chinese table harp, and lever harp.) I try to rotate them, like piano and harp one day and violin and table harp the other day, one hour each instruments. I work 12 hours day and I find that I seem to use most of my spare time on practicing all the instruments. Given that I don’t have kids, and my husband is doing his favorite hobby when I’m practicing, this way seems to work well.
