I know little about the cross strung except they are lovely to hear when played well. I have a dusty Crescendo new to me but just 2 years old it is Sapele wood and sounds lovely …I am a beginner harpist (June 2013), I love the harp I have never really thought beyond as in a forever investment looked months for one in exception condition and very pleasing sound. (I live over 2 hours from immediate hands on repair help so it had to be reliable,) Good luck when you decide.
We have been snowed in and snowed on quite enough for my tastes. It has also been bitter bitter cold this winter which even for us in Canada is very unusual, Prince Edward Island where I live is usually cold and dustings of snow not so this year not so at all.
Janet: I have just popped into your website and I have my ear buds in listening to and being soothed by all your lovely pieces you have recorded and put on your page.. Thanks so much I am enjoying you playing more that you will know by my simple post here. I have just started play and my harp was a Christmas gift from my husband but I have a long way to go to even think of playing publicly let alone recording anything. . I looked up the harp you bought last summer and asked if they did often they did workshops, but they are quite a distance from where I live on the east coast of Canada.

Iris LinkletterI am of no real help I just bought a dusty crescendo in sapele wood and until then I was playing on rented stoney ends, but I looked into Camas before I went with the crescendo, they are not the available in my area. Good luck with the query.
wow how incredible a witness you now have. Thank You for sharing this painful but stretching chapter of your life. We tend to take our loved ones for granted thinking there is always later or tomorrow. Don’t wait people don’t wait. Tell them how precious they are to you how wonderful your life is with them in it and let the moments take your breath away as you live them and experience them. I just brought home a new to me Crescendo and I love the sound it has we were hearing the Crescendo and FH 36 MAple and they were so similar except in the bottom, my new harp is wire and her’s is wire wrapped nylon. I think the makers and creators do what they think sound best on the harps they have researched and built for years, but that doesn’t mean we can’t personalize and switch something unless you know it is going to damage the instrument. My Harp is 2 years old so it has settled lovely and I touched tuning up when I set it up but it travelled so very well even in the chill of November weather, I am, just like you so very happy to have a harp of my own that I can learn how to play it, I have played 4 different harps in 6 months no wonder I do not have a strong technique developed yet. My poor instructor is probably ready to throw in the towel on me but we shall hope for great progress from here on out. Isn’t having a new harp so fun and exciting and yes stimulating. Have fun..
I agree so many of the are outstanding in looks and something in their eyes shines brighter, maybe some day as I keep at it it might be said of me…(your photo is lovely you fit with your description.) How long have you played Harp? I am just months and only just got my harp this past Thursday.
I think the Baking Soda would work well there are packs (in Canada) designed to be opened and left where the odor is but it is still safely contained in the package. Essential oils can help a drop on a cotton ball in the interior would not harm it but I am thinking it will only mask it not remove it. Good Luck and lovely harps I am trying to purchase a harp right now as I have been renting and only started playing in May this year, time to get my own I am thinking. I am open to ideas and suggestions of favorites….. my instructor is leaning towards Stoney Ends’ but I am wanting at least 34 strings and they only have one option the Marion…Good luck with the smell.
