I forgot to say that it is a Triplett staved back looks just like there Celtic II just a little bit bigger
I have a fineline 34strig Catalina with much onamation work done on it and the sound is wonderful. I played Dusty FH 34 in Seattle a few weeks ago and it could not compare to my 34. The tension was much less and the bass was week because none of the strings were wraped. The Dusty FH 36’s sounded much better than there 34. I play for hours every day and the sound seems to be getting better and better mostly in the lower strings they have such power and now blend very well with the pure nylon strings. I love this harp, it a work of art.
Since I only play at home I pratice at my computer desk/office and use a Aeron chair and I never get tired sitting in it. Never. When I did gigs with my guitar and voice I would bring my own chair which had small of the back support and I could raise it higher for better
You know I do not remeber which wood it was. But I did also note that the tension of the strings was less on the Dusty. The Triplett had a fuller sound.
You know, I just got back to Alaska from a three day stay in Seattle and went to Dusty Strings to see their harps and store. What Fun!!! And found what Aurdrey had to say to be right on. The two harps sound not that different. I would go with the all wood one just because I like the looks better, but just on sound and if I did not have the money the black and white would be just fine. Yes this is a very excitting time for you! I just went through it. I am a professional Studio Potter and form is very important to me. The side profile of the harp and how all of the parts flow into one living scupture moves me very much. I went through many of the same things you did. My choice was the Triplett harp Catalina II with the staved back in Bubinga with maple veneer over there compiste soundboard,
This is a very large and complex subject. One place to start is go to Sweetwater.com they have some good information and Youtube has lots of tips. You can do alot of the work yourself in setting up a rooms “sound” very cheaply. I looked into this in great detail when setting up my “Hometheater Room” and it makes all the difference in the world. Just google it and have lots of fun. Sweetwater has a great book on setting up a home recording studio on your own. Enjoy the ride and it does not take thousands of dollars to do. Can anyone suggest a brand of humidifier for a 24by20 foot room that does not make a lot of noise. Here in Alaska my room humidity is 30% and room temp at 70
I just found out that if you click the back button you can see the other two and if you go forward you can view other protrats. Dennis
