ParticipantI miss my nails – for purely aesthetic reasons.

MemberAside from the no fingernails thing (which my dogs really notice as they always go immediately to visitors for “real” scratchies, I hate it when you get the blank stares when you tell people you play “harp” and they hear “heart.”

ParticipantGoodbye manicure, don’t cry about me. When my fingernails are longer than 2mm I’m starting to feel myself uncomfortable.
I hate that biggest bag in my band which I need to bear on my tender shoulder and pirple belt traces on mu skin. But the most i hate SUBWAY when I need to take somewhere fast in traffic-jam time – I’m shure, other people in metro hate me back.

Oh does that bring back memories. I have had more than a couple of instances where I had to haul a lever harp on the subway or buss and it is quite the experiences. And quite the conversation starter.

ParticipantYes) It’s really terrible.
Else, I don’t know how’s in your region, but in my lever harps is still looking like something unusial.

MemberNot to be whiney because I’ve posted here recently but I really hate cold hands.

ParticipantJennifer,
There are always dirty dishes in our house (four people, four different
schedules) so when I start feeling cold – especially hands – I wash a
few dishes in as hot water as I can stand. Warms up my arthritic hands
and gets a few dishes clean! Don’t forget the moisturizer afterward.Leigh

ParticipantJennifer,
I noticed the same thing today, and I’m a real lover of the great outdoors. It just takes time for me to adapt to the cold. I remember my harp teacher being dismayed last year in the winter when I showed up for a lesson with bare hands. She said she can’t STAND to have cold hands, and I noticed this morning that it really bothered me to have cold hands too now. Weird…..I never noticed that before.
I have one of those hot wax things where you melt big chunks of wax and then put your hands in a few times into the warm wax and slip your hands into plastic mitts that are heated. I really feels GREAT during the Michigan winters. I think they sell them in the drugstores. I got mine from QVC a few years ago.

Participanti hate the spots on my knee and right shoulder where the harp rests.

Participantspeaking of wardrobe, I dislike not being able to wear some jewelry while performing (especially back during my pageant days.

ParticipantEsmeralda, since these spots are made by friction, here’s a thought: have you tried putting a scarf or towel across your shoulder when you practice, to avoid the harp resting right on that spot? And are you wearing a long skirt or pants when you practice? This might prevent a friction spot from appearing on your knee. If you already have tried that, I know this sounds ridiculous, but have you considered a knee pad of some sort? Also, glycolic acid (Reversa is one product that contains it) works like a charm to reduce skin imperfections.

MemberThere was this time I forgot to wear a long skirt when I was supposed to play for my adult Sunday school.
