ParticipantSo, did she ever give her judgment? Guess she had a bad experience with a harpist at some previous time – it is certainly a needlessly nasty and pointless comment.
She must not care what us ordinary folk think of her, a bad career-attitude if nothing else. You know what they say: Be nice to people on your way up because they’re the same ones you’re going to meet on your way down.

ParticipantI haven’t met anyone really very famous…I have met Eileen Ivers, who in the world of Irish music is pretty much the epitome. She toured with Riverdance and won the All-Irelands Fiddle Championships nine times in a row. When we saw her in concert, there was so much friction on her electric violin that smoke was literally rising into the cold theatre from her bow. It was wild!
I remember being VERY little and going to a ballet with my younger brother and

ParticipantI may not have all of the details right, but something along those lines did apparently happen to Beecham. I’m told he had a wonderful sense of humor. I think he was the one who described the harpsichord as “sounding like two skeletons making love on a tin roof.”
There was a big birthday party for his 80th birthday and many greetings and well wishes were read out during the dinner from people like the Queen, Benjamin Britten, etc. At the end of it Beecham said in mock horror, “What?? Nothing from Mozart??”

ParticipantWell I haven’t met any famous people but was once accosted in the street by a group of teens who were convinced I was a famous TV actress. Despite my telling them it wasn’t true they still insisted on taking a ream of photos of each of them with me. I even tried ignoring them and walking away and they ran down the street after me. When they told me who they were convinced I was I almost died laughing because there just isn’t a resemblance anywhere.
It must have been crazy month in town that day….

Participant” So on a complete aside, how many of you first saw Patrick Stewart in Star Trek the Next Generation, and how many first saw him way back in the day when he had hair and played Sejanus in I Claudius?

ParticipantI said hello to Cameron Diaz one day. She was walking down the street with her escort, and she seemed to be having trouble walking and talking at the same time. They might have had a few. I’ve seen Bruce Willis. No surprise, they make movies here.
