According to a press release from Aug. 29, Lyon & Healy Harps will continue to operate its harp factory at its historic location at Lake Street and Ogden Avenue on Chicago’s Near West Side for the time being, instead of transitioning the factory to its newly purchased facility in the Galewood neighborhood of Chicago. Lyon & Healy has announced that it will move to a new location within the Chicagoland area in 2025. “With the increased demand for Lyon & Healy instruments, we simply need a larger factory space,” the Chicago harpmaker says. Founded in 1864, Lyon & Healy built its first harp in 1889 and has been operating on the same block west of downtown Chicago since about 1890.
