"Master of the traditional Scottish harp music field” (BBC Radio 3), Karen Marshalsay is one of Scotland’s leading harpers, working solo, with long-standing folk group The Whistlebinkies, renowned Gaelic piper-singer Allan MacDonald, and Irish legend and Boys of the Lough founder Cathal McConnell. Honored in 2024 as one of the first composers in the School of Scottish Studies at Edinburgh University’s New Traditional School, she has performed her own work at festivals including Celtic Connections, with the Russian String Orchestra, and at Ceòlas in South Uist.
