Note from the composer

I composed this easy-to-play samba on the occasion of the International Harp Chamber Competition in Singapore whose organiser, Katryna Tan, asked me for a piece of music in South American style for the final concert. This explains the title of the piece, which I dedicate to Katryna, whose invaluable achievements in the promotion and development of the harp in Singapore and Malaysia cannot be valued highly enough. My samba affords performers plenty of room for rhythmic improvisation and additional percussionists may complement the ensemble. For larger ensembles of more than 6-8 players I recommend supplementing the group with a double bass.
