Uno Vesje performing IV. “A Midnight Walk” from Poems From a City at a studio session in Oslo, Norway in 2015.
Notes from the composer
I started to compose the five movement solo suite “Poems From a City” in 2012 when I was an exchange student at Manhattan School of Music in the studio of Deborah Hoffman. Everything about New York City was so extreme. A city full of stories and impression, the city of poems. The city is a place for diversity and contrasts, something I want to express through the five contrasting movements. Personally I have five real life experiences and stories to all of the movements, but my wish is that you, as the performer, make up your own stories to the music. Make the music come alive with your own interpretation and imagination. Poems From a City is the title work for my solo album from 2014 (Sweet Sound Records).
