Tamsin Dearnley has arranged the traditional Scottish tune “Crònan an Maighdinn-mara” (“The Mermaid’s Croon”) for two lever harps.This arrangement accommodates different skill levels, with Harp 1 suited for beginners and Harp 2 for advanced beginner players. Scroll down for notes.

Note from the arranger

The introduction solo, as well as the solo at the end were both improvised live. The ending solo includes the top B string which does not appear on all harps. The sheet music contains a suggested workaround for those who do not have 36 strings.

    This is such a hauntingly beautiful piece. The rubber mallet really does create a whale-like sound! (Instructions for making your own mallets on Youtube). I especially appreciate that the improvisational parts are written out and included in the score.
