Tamsin Dearnley has arranged the traditional Japanese folk song “Sakura, Sakura” for solo lever or pedal harp. This song is about the iconic cherry blossoms that bloom in the springtime all over Japan. Dearnley offers both a simplified, easy arrangement and an intermediate-advanced arrangement. Included with both versions is a transcription of the Japanese lyrics and a brief explanation about the Japanese koto and the tonality of the piece.

Note from the arranger

The video above shows the ‘Intermediate-Advanced’ solo (there may be some very slight discrepancies with the score as printed). The sheet music also contains some additional variations to those shown here, just for good measure! This fun-to-play arrangement uses several unusual techniques to mimic the sound of the Japanese koto. The piece has several variations so may be varied in length according to playing level or desired performance time.
