Tamsin Dearnley’s arrangement of the traditional Irish tune “Down by the Salley Gardens” is for solo lever or pedal harp. Also known by the name “The Maids of Mourne Shore,” this version contains four ‘verses’ which increase in difficulty over the course of the piece. This lovely Irish air should be in every harpist’s repertoire!

Note from the arranger

You do not, of course, have to play all four verses; the solo tune and very simple accompaniment of the first verse would make a lovely first solo for beginners (the grace notes may be omitted) and the other verses added as you progress. (Or, of course, if you just don’t like one or more of the verses, they may be left out!).
