“Christmas Day in the Morning / I Saw Three Ships Come Sailing In” performed by Shoshanna Godber, Raghu Lokanathan, and Dave Godber.
Note from the arranger
Christmas Day in the Morning (also known as Christmas Ida Mournin’) is a 19th century Shetland tune attributed to fiddler Fredamann Stickle, who is said to have played this tune to the laird every Christmas. I Saw Three Ships Come Sailing In is an older English tune – probably from the 17th century. I couldn’t resist a medley of the two songs given that the refrain of I Saw Three Ships is “On Christmas Day in the Morning”. They seemed to belong together!
