Flerty

Sharlene Wallace’s original work Flerty is for flute and lever or pedal harp. On the piece, Wallace says, “The title, Flerty, is a made-up word! The flute part is written more as a fluid-accompaniment-ostinato-harp-like part. I have switched the instruments’ traditional roles so that the harp is now melody-carrier and the flute the accompanist with a wee flirtation of a dance in the middle between the two instruments. I have also swapped the conventional registration relationship between these two harmonious instruments. There is also some flerting about with time.”
