Notes from the arranger
The words of the lullabies, printed inside the cover of each part, give insight to a mother’s feelings as she rocks her child. For instance, in the Basque lullaby the mother sings, “At the gates of heaven they give away shoes, for the little barefooted angels to use.” In the Guatemalan lullaby the mother sings, “Oh close your eyes, my baby, for I have things to do. I have to wash your baby clothes and sew a shirt for you.”
