Notes from the arranger
There is disagreement as to exactly when the Italian pianist/composer, Count of Montignoso, Enrico Toselli composed his famous melody. Perhaps it was composed when he was 17 years old (in 1900) or perhaps it was composed in 1907 when he eloped with Archduchess Louise of Austria.
Internationally, there are many titles and lyrics associated with this melody. Besides the original title of “Serenata Rimpianto,” it has been recorded and published with the names “Regret,” “Come Back,” “Toselli’s Serenade,” “Nightingale Serenade,” and “Dreams and Memories.” This sweet melody is still being recorded today.
