Serena O’Meara’s arrangement of the traditional Scottish tune “My Love Is Like a Red, Red Rose” is for lever or pedal harp and any of the following instruments: flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, French horn, trumpet in B-flat, trombone, soprano saxophone, alto saxophone, violin, viola, cello, or contrabass. Robert Burns (1759-1796) penned the words to “My Love Is Like A Red, Red Rose” in 1794. When Burns’s main publisher turned down the poem, he offered it to Pietro Urbani who published it with his own tune in Scots Songs (1797). The lyrics have been set to many melodies, but the most famous setting uses the traditional tune “Low Down in the Broom.”
