Serena O’Meara’s arrangement of Richard Willis’s classic Christmas melody “It Came Upon a Midnight Clear” is for pedal harp and any of the following instruments: flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, French horn, trumpet in B-flat, alto saxophone, violin, viola, or cello. Unitarian minister Edmund Sears wrote the lyrics for this hymn in 1849 in Massachusetts, and in 1850 American composer of hymns Richard Storrs Willis set those lyrics to music. This arrangement contains 4 verses separated by an interlude, allowing the performers to stop at the end of each verse. The melody is divided evenly between parts.
