Serena O’Meara’s arrangement of the traditional Irish ballad “Carrickfergus” is for lever or pedal harp and any of the following instruments: flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, French horn, trumpet in B-flat, alto saxophone, violin, viola, or cello. “Carrickfergus is a town in County Antrim, north of Belfast,” says O’Meara. “The lyrics tell of a nostalgic person missing his homeland and wishing he could move back home. In this arrangement, the beautiful melody is augmented by flowing arpeggiated interludes representing the sound of waves from the sea.”
